Wayne selectmen prepare for town meeting

By Kennebec Journal Staff report May 28, 2008 04:20 PM

WAYNE — Selectmen approved $3,800 on Tuesday to allow the town to rehabilitate a ball field at Wayne Elementary School, Town Manager Pam Grimshaw said.

Currently, baseball and softball players can use only one ball field, located at the Ladd Recreation Center. Rehabilitating the Wayne Elementary School field would allow softball players a home field in their own town, Grimshaw said.

Residents must first approve that and other selectmen-approved expenditures at Wayne's town meeting on June 11.

Selectmen on Tuesday also approved an agreement with Monmouth to maintain a portion of Hardscrabble Road. In addition, the board signed off on an agreement to form a regional public works department with Manchester, Readfield and Maranacook Community High School and Middle School.

More information about that agreement will be available on Wayne's town Web site .
