Bowdoin College robots win U.S. event

Northern Bites, a team of Bowdoin College students and their soccer-playing robotic dogs, has won the 2008 RoboCup U.S. Open competition held May 25-27 in Pittsburgh.

Doug Boxer-Cook, college spokesman, said the the team, led by advisor Eric Chown, defeated Texas University on Tuesday by a score of 2-1.

Bowdoin's team won the 2007 RoboCup World Championship as well. Northern Bites consists of four Sony Aibo robots that are programmed by Bowdoin students. The robots operated autonomously with no external control by humans or computers.
