Parties join to help Pittston attack victims

By The Associated Press wire report June 06, 2008 05:11 PM

AUGUSTA - Maine's political parties don't agree on a lot, but they're united in a push to help a father and daughter who were brutally attacked in their homes last month.

The Maine Democratic Party has joined Republicans in urging participation in a benefit blood drive Saturday at the victims' church in Farmingdale.

Forty-eight-year-old William Guerrette Jr., a former member of the Legislature, and his 10-year-old daughter Nicole have been hospitalized since the attacks May 27 in their Pittston home. Police have a suspect in custody.

The Republicans' call for participation in the blood drive was seconded Friday by the Democratic Party. The drive will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Farmingdale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
