Weather around the state will get very active this afternoon, the National Weather Service is reporting.
A strong cold front will be approaching from the west, setting off widespread showers and thunderstorms. Some of these storms will contain strong winds and possible hail.
These storms will last into the evening.
Less humid air will flow into the region once the front passes. This will lead to a pleasantly warm day on Wednesday.
There may be a shower or thunderstorm across the mountains as a secondary front crosses the area tomorrow. After that, a cool and dry high pressure system will take control.
This will produce some enjoyable late spring weather both Thursday and Friday.
By that time, the high pressure center will be sliding off to the east.
Moisture will begin to make a slow move toward New Hampshire and Maine over the weekend.
Saturday should remain dry, but showers will be back in the forecast for Saturday night and Sunday.
