Stabbing suspect will remain in Portland

By Portland Press Herald Staff Report June 10, 2008 04:40 PM

A man accused of stabbing a father and daughter during a home invasion in Pittston last month is to be held in Cumberland County Jail pending his trial.

Leo Hylton, 18, was transferred to the Cumberland County Jail from Kennebec County Jail last week because he needed to be held in maximum security and Kennebec County lacks such accommodations.

Hylton now has been placed in administrative segregation for his own protection in the jail following a fight Friday in the jail recreation yard.

The other inmate in the fight spit on Hylton, according to the sheriff’s office.

Hylton is charged with elevated aggravated assault in the May 27 stabbing of William G. Guerrette Jr., 48, and his daughter Nicole, 10.
