BRIDGTON — Incumbent Robert C. Bell and Paul E. Hoyt beat out four other candidates to win three-year seats on the Board of Selectmen in Tuesday’s election.

Douglas A. Taft won a special election to serve the year left in a term when another selectman resigned earlier this year.

The men were the top vote-getters in their respective contests: Bell got 470 votes; Hoyt got 308; Taft got 517.

The four other candidates seeking three-year seats on the board were William L. Dyer with 162 votes, Daniel F. Nowell with 218, Brian K. Spear with 121 and Kenneth H. Towne with 304.

Another incumbent, Robert J. McHatton Sr., did not seek re-election to a three-year term. Instead, he decided to run against Taft and SAD 61 board member Wayne E. Warner Sr. in the special election. McHatton trailed Taft with 340 votes. Warner received 98 votes.
