Incumbents Philip Pomerleau and Louis Stack each won re-election to the Town Council on Tuesday.

In the at-large race, Pomerleau fended off a challenge from political newcomer Peter Hassapelis. Pomerleau had 832 votes to 365 votes for Hassapelis.

Pomerleau said key issues facing the town include finding ways to make education more affordable and bringing rail service back to Standish. Hassapelis said town leaders need to improve communication with residents.

In the Area 4 race, Stack had 712 votes to 492 votes for his challenger, Planning Board member Brian Libby.

Stack said getting a beach in Standish and following through on plans for the Standish Corner and Sebago Lake villages are top priorities. Libby said key issues are directing growth to the town’s village centers and encouraging small businesses.
