Arthur E. Tainter Jr. won the Republican primary nomination for the House District 50 seat Tuesday.

Election officials said Tainter, who lives in Waldoboro, received 426 votes on Tuesday while his opponent, Henry B. Simmons, a Nobleboro selectman, received 264 votes.

Tainter will face incumbent Democrat Wendy Pieh in the November election.
