BELFAST - Under gray skies and light rain, nearly 2,000 bicyclists arrived in Maine's coastal city of Belfast to wind up a three-day, 180-mile ride from the other side of the state.

The 24th annual Trek Across Maine raised money for the American Lung Association of Maine and celebrates bicycling in general.

The ride began in Bethel and wound up in Farmington the first day and Waterville on the second.

Robert Nault of Lincolnville was in his ninth Trek Across Maine. Nault debated taking an early cutoff so he could pedal home early, but decided to finish with the pack. Nault calls the race "awesome."
