A Lewiston man jailed in Illinois has been charged with the stabbing death of an Auburn man last week.
An arrest warrant was issued this morning at Androscoggin Superior Court in Auburn, and detectives notified Ryan Muncey this morning that he is being charged with the fatal stabbing of 26-year-old Casey Stanley.
Muncey, 28, waived extradition proceedings when he made a court appearance in Illinois this morning. He had been arrested and jailed in Illinois as a material witness in the case.
Arrangements are being made to return Muncey to Maine. He will be accompanied by the two Maine State Police detectives who traveled on Sunday to Illinois.
Police say they have no plans to charge Muncey's girlfriend, Alisha Turner, who also was taken into custody over the weekend in Illinois.
