Portland is hosting the 10th Annual Canada - New England Cruise Symposium, a three-day event that kicks off today and includes a number of panel discussions on the state of the industry and how to market a port as a destination spot.

More than 150 cruise line and port executives representing nine cruise lines are attending the symposium. For many, this trip will be their first to the Port of Portland. The executives will tour the Greater Portland area and receive a briefing on the city's waterfront development projects.

Mayor Edward Suslovic and City Manager Joe Gray will welcome the representatives today at Ocean Gateway and provide a briefing on the Port of Portland.
