CHICAGO - Barack Obama plans to meet with Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley and other Democratic governors in a show of party unity after a bruising primary.
Officially, the meeting today in Chicago is supposed to be a discussion of the economy. Obama will chat with the governors, including Maine's John Baldacci, about the impact of President Bush's economic policies.
But another goal is to demonstrate that Democratic leaders are enthusiastic about Obama as their presidential candidate.
O'Malley and governors from some other states backed Hillary Rodham Clinton in the Democratic primaries.
