WAYNE — McGee Construction of West Gardiner will undertake a project to move a sidewalk in Wayne Village by 2 feet to widen U.S. Route 133, selectmen agreed Tuesday night.

The town will pay the contractor nearly $5,500 to move the portion of the sidewalk near Wayne General Store. The contractor will move the sidewalk to widen U.S. Route 133 enough for safe street-side parking.

One other firm initially submitted a bid of more than $7,000 to perform the work.
