Cumberland County Sheriff Mark Dion is scheduled to testify Thursday before members of the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee on proposed fugitive database legislation.
Sen. Joseph Biden, D-Delaware, has invited Dion to testify on behalf of the National Sheriff’s Association before the Subcommittee on Crime and Drugs. Dion serves on the association’s Legal Affairs Committee.
The hearing topic is titled: “They Can Run, But They Can’t Hide: Catching Fugitives in the 21st Century.”
The Fugitive Information Networked Database (FIND) Act of 2008 is designed to encourage states to enter new and outstanding felony warrants into the National Crime Information Center database by authorizing grants to state and local agencies to upgrade their warrant databases.
