FARMINGTON – Four men made their first district court appearance Wednesday on a string of over two dozen felony burglaries that left about $100,000 in damages to seasonal homes along Porter Lake in Strong and New Vineyard.
Judge Valerie Stansfield set $7,500 bail for Shane Sturgeon, 21, of 104 Botka Hill Road, Livermore, charged with 27 counts of burglary, and $2,000 for Zachary Heath of 11 Bridge Street, West Farmington, who is charged with 27 counts of burglary and one count of violation of conditions of release on prior charges of operating after suspension and disorderly conduct.
Also, bail was set at $500 for Dylan Couturier, 18, of 110 Park Street, Livermore Falls, on 11 counts of burglary and $500 for Timothy Lagasse, 18, of 638 Industry Road, Farmington on 16 counts of burglary.
Additional charges of theft and aggravated criminal mischief, both felonies, will be included when the cases are presented to a grand jury in July, said Assistant Franklin County district Attorney Andrew Robinson outside the courtroom.
Three 17-year old boys from Chesterville, New Sharon and Wilton are expected to be charged through the juvenile justice system in August. It is the policy of the Morning Sentinel not to publish the names of juveniles until they are formally charged in court.
The motive, Robionson said, was to steal liguor and the adventure turned into destroying property.
