Park rangers on Portland's Eastern Promenade will enforce safety regulations and collect boat-launch fees starting Saturday through the end of summer.
Fees for the East End Boat Launch are $50 (resident) and $75 (nonresident) for a season pass; and $5 (resident), $10 (nonresident) and $125 (commercial) for daily use.
City ordinance bans the following acts at or near the boat launch: storage of gear on dock; swimming; consumption of alcoholic beverages; boat anchoring; fishing off or near the dock; and overnight parking.
Boaters are allowed 15 minutes to load or unload gear on the dock and should park in designated areas. Children under age 10 must be accompanied by an adult and wear a life preserver. Dogs must be on a leash of 8 feet or less.
Glass containers, alcoholic beverages, floating devices and fishing is prohibited at East End Beach. Dogs are permitted on the beach from 6 to 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Trash must be placed in proper receptacles.
Public restrooms at the beach are open from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. The park is closed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
