AUGUSTA — Our nation’s Independence Day isn’t until next week, but city officials from the public works department are already reminding people not to set out their trash for collection Friday.

Trash that would be collected on July 4 will instead be collected the following Monday, July 7, city officials said in a release on their Web site. Items must be curbside by 7 a.m.

The Hatch Hill Landfill will be also be closed July 4. It will reopen at 8 a.m. Saturday, July 5.
