Mental health in schools will be on the minds of more than 100 people who work with children early next week as they attend a Colby College conference.
The Waterville college is sponsoring the 12th annual Childhood Behavioral Disorders conference for social workers, school guidance counselors, psychologists, physicians, teachers and parents on Monday and Tuesday.
The two-day program this year will focus on school mental health, said Glen Davis, a psychologist at the Edmund N. Ervin Pediatric Center at MaineGeneral Medical Center.
"Our goal is to really provide information and skills to people who are on the front lines of providing care to children in Maine, children with emotional and behavioral problems," said Davis, who has organized past conferences.
Conferences in previous years have focused on disruptive behavior, emotional disorders and trauma, he said.
