WINTHROP — Cony High School track star Luke Fontaine placed first overall in the Friends of the Cobbossee Watershed "Friends on the Fourth" annual 5K Road Race.

Fontaine, 16, finished the race neck-and-neck with recent Winthrop High School graduate Dan Soltan, 18. Though the competitors completed the race at nearly the same time, officials determined Fontaine placed first.

Their races times were not immediately available.
