WELLS -- A toddler was taken to a Boston hospital for treatment after suffering serious burns when he tripped and fell into a campfire at a Wells campground.

A Wells Fire Department official said the one-and-a-half-year-old boy lost his footing about 7 p.m. Saturday and fell into the flames at the Wells Beach Resort campground.

The boy was taken to Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford with burns to his face, arms and hands before being transferred to Boston.

The boy's name has not been made public.
