Gasoline hits another record

As holiday travelers are getting back to work today, gasoline prices in Maine are hitting a new high.

Regular gas in Maine is selling for an average of $4.13 a gallon, according to AAA and Oil Price Information Service. That compares to $4.10 nationally today, also a record.

Diesel prices in Maine and nationally also have reached new levels: In Maine, diesel is averaging $4.86 a gallon; nationally, it's $4.80.

In Portland, regular gasoline is averaging $4.11 a gallon, up from $2.98 a year ago at this time.
