A baby was taken to Maine Medical Center last night after she fell out out a second-story window in Winthrop.
The 16-month-old girl suffered a head injury after falling about 14 feet onto a paved walkway, said Capt. Ryan Frost of the Winthrop Police Department.
She was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Maine Medical Center in Portland.
"She was crying, she was conscious, but they wanted to LifeFlight her because of the type of injury," Frost said.
Police have not provided the baby's name.
The fall occurred shortly after 7 p.m. at 84 Highland Ave., a multi-unit apartment, Frost said.
The infant, who was playing in an upstairs bedroom, managed to crawl to a window and push out a screen, Frost said.
