AUGUSTA –– The results of an autopsy on a 22-year-old victim of a July 2 homicide in Hope corroborate the confession of the man charged with her murder.

The state medical examiner's office said Monday that Jessica Nichols of Waldoboro died of multiple sharp-force and blunt-force injuries.

The suspect, 23-year-old Steven Pomeroy of Hope, is quoted in court documents as telling police he bludgeoned and stabbed Nichols at his home after she made a comment about his ex-fiancee.

Pomeroy is being held in the Knox County Jail while awaiting a bail hearing Friday.
