Saco has been chosen to host a green living expo in September because of the city’s efforts to reduce energy use and protect the environment, the organizers announced Tuesday.
Wayne King, publisher of Going Green Magazine and organizer of the Maine Going Green Energy, Building & Living Expo, said Saco was chosen as host because it is “the greenest city in Maine.” The city, which has two wind turbines and plans for geothermal energy among other things, will be honored at the event during an Environmental Hero Awards ceremony, according to the news release.
The expo is scheduled for Sept. 13 and 14 at the Howard Sports Center. It’s expected to include more than 100 exhibitors, entertainment, food and kids’ activities and is intended to become an annual event. For more information, go to: www.GoingGreenExpos.com/Maine.
