AUGUSTA—A road rage dispute between two octogenarians nearly came to blows on State Street Tuesday morning.
The men, an 80-year-old from Randolph and an 81-year-old from Farmingdale, were in a heated exchange when police happened upon the argument around 10:40 a.m., said Sgt. Chris Massey of the Augusta Police.
"It started somewhere on lower State Street in Hallowell," Massey said.
One of the men told police the other, who was driving in front, had intentionally slammed on his brakes. The second man told police the first had tried to cut him off, Massey said.
"Both of them were extremely upset upon the officer's arrival," he said.
Police were able to calm both men before the exchange turned physical, Massey said. The men were allowed to continue on their way.
Neither man is facing charges.
"We get a lot of road rage incidents, but not between two 80 year olds," Massey said.
