PORTLAND - Power has been restored to the more than 8,000 people who lost electricity in yesterday's thunderstorms.

A spokeswoman for Central Maine Power said the outages peaked last night at 6:45 p.m. with about 8,300 customers affected. About half of the outages were in the Portland area, and power was restored at about 1:30 a.m., according to Gail Rice.

As of this morning, there were about 350 customers without power, mostly in the Bridgton and Naples area.
