BELGRADE -- Everyone was able to walk away without injury from a head-on collision between a cement truck a station wagon on Oakland Road Thursday morning.
The 7 a.m. crash at the Station Road intersection occurred when the driver of the Dragon Industries concrete truck made a left turn onto Station Road in the path of the north-bound Subaru station wagon, Bourque said. The truck and the car collided head on.
The names and hometowns of the drivers were unavailable Thursday evening.
Bourque believes the unusually high bumpers on the truck prevented the accident from being much worse. The station wagon was probably traveling near the 45-mile-per-hour speed limit, Bourque said.
"It didn't hit the vehicle directly. It kind of skidded across the hood and caught the windshield," he said. "If this had been a dump truck we'd probably be talking about a fatality."
The 1999 Subaru was totaled. The concrete truck sustained minor damage.
