SANFORD $ A 25-year-old woman was arrested Friday night in connection with a fatal hit-and-run accident a day earlier in Sanford.

Kimberly S. Gignac, of Sanford, was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, a felony. She was transported to the York County Jail.

Alan Morin, 49, of Steep Falls, died in the accident.

It happened Thursday night near the intersection of Cottage Street and Grammar Road. According to investigators, Morin was slowing his motorcycle to make a left turn when he was struck from behind by a minivan. The impact caused Morin's motorcycle to skid 60 feet.

Morin was transported to Goodall Hospital and later transferred to Maine Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.

Evidence gathered at the scene and witness information led authorities to Gignac. Investigators are still looking for anyone who may have witnessed the accident to assist with the case. Anyone with information should contact the Sanford Police Department at 324-3644.
