A 47-year-old Standish man remains in critical condition this morning after a weekend motorcycle crash in Buxton.

Patrick Smith was badly injured on Warren Road in Buxton following a police pursuit.

A Cumberland County Sheriff's deputy spotted a motorcycle driving in the wrong lane on Cape Road in Standish at 9:30 p.m. The deputy followed the motorcyclist for about four miles before losing sight of the motorcycle on Warren Road, said a press release from the sheriff's office.

The deputy then rounded a corner and saw Smith face-down on the road and the motorcycle in a ditch.

Smith was taken to Maine Medical Center.
