OAKLAND $ Police on Monday arrested a Winslow man on a sexual assault charge against a 5-year-old girl, a crime that allegedly happened seven years ago in Oakland.

Brian K. Arbo, 45, a resident of 8 Monument Street, is charged with the Class A felony of gross sexual assault. Captain Rick Stubbert, who made the arrest at 4:09 at the Oakland police station, said that Arbo posted $5,000 in unsecured bail.

An indictment could come in September, when the Kennebec County Grand Jury next convenes, Stubbert said.

Stubbert said that the girl, now 12, and her mother came forward with the charge Monday afternoon.

At time of the alleged assault, Arbo and the girl lived in the same apartment, Stubbert said.
