Waterville renews contract with Clinton for dispatching

WATERVILLE $ City councilors voted 7-0 Tuesday night to renew a contract with the town of Clinton for public safety dispatching services.

Clinton will pay the city $12,000 a year as part of the two-year contract, which starts Aug. 1.

Councilor Rosemary J. Winslow, D-Ward 3, praised all those who helped make the partnership with Clinton work, including City Manager Michael Roy and police Chief Joseph Massey. Massey also is a Clinton selectman.

"My compliments to the work you have done, Mike, and our police chief and Police Department because it's everything we've been working on," Winslow said. "It just works so well."

The Police Department's Waterville Area Communications Center started dispatching for Clinton last fall. Councilor John O'Donnell, D-Ward 5, wanted to know how the new contract compares with the current one.

"It's exactly the same except for the term," Roy said. "The first contract was a year long and this is a two-year contract, but other than that, there are no changes."
