South Portland Police will host a meeting Wednesday, July 23, to discuss the recent rash of burglaries in the city's Pleasantdale neighborhood.

Police will provide an overview of crime activity in the area and discuss the idea of setting up a community watch program.

The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. at the South Portland Community Center, located at 2 Nelson Road.

Police said residents have reported 16 to 20 incidents in the area between April 1 and July 2. No arrests have been made, but the cases are still under investigation.

The break-ins were reported on Shelby Lane; Anthoine, Carter, Chapel and Cole streets, and Arbuttus, Harborview and Osborne avenues, according to Police.

Police are that anyone with information about the burglaries to call the department, at 799-5511, or its confidential tip line at 347-4100 or send an e-mail to sppdtips@southportland.org.
