Timothy Majeroni, 40, formerly of South Portland, was sentenced Tuesday in U.S. District Court to a year in prison for failing to update his personal information on the state's Sex Offender Registry. Majeroni had pleaded guilty on March 19.
Majeroni was convicted in 2001 of possessing child pornography and was later required to register under the federal Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act, which requires a sex offender to register, and keep the registration current, in each jurisdiction where the offender resides, works and goes to school.
A year ago, when Majeroni moved from his South Portland residence and left his job, he failed to update his sex offender registration to reflect these changes.
Majeroni was later located in Bridgton, Maine, at the apartment of a minor girl with whom Majeroni was prohibited from having contact under the terms of his federal supervised release.
Majeroni was arrested by a Deputy United States Marshal and officers from the Bridgton Police Department.
