PORTLAND -- The Boston Red Sox have promoted Portland Sea Dogs pitcher Michael Bowden, outfielder Jeff Corsaletti and infielder Sandy Madera to Triple-A Pawtucket.
Infielders Lars Anderson and Argenis Diaz have been promoted from Single-A Lancaster to the Portland Sea Dogs. Meanwhile, outfielder Bryan Prtiz will join the Sea Dogs from Triple-A Pawtucket and infielder Kris Negron was returned to Single-A Greenville.
Bowden, an Eastern League All-Star has made 19 starts for the Sea Dogs this season posting a 9-4 record. He ranks second in the Eastern League in ERA (2.87) and strikeouts (101). In two partial seasons with the Sea Dogs, Bowden has compiled a 17-10 record with a 3.27 ERA. He ranks eighth in franchise history in career ERA (3.27), tenth in wins (17), and tenth in games started (38). The 21-year-old was the fifth pick of the Red Sox (47th overall) in the sandwich round (between first and second rounds) of the 2005 First-Year Player Draft.
Corsaletti was named to the Eastern League All-Star Game for the second consecutive season. In 77 games with the Sea Dogs this season, he ranks seventh in the league in hitting at .311. Additionally, Corsaletti is second in the league in runs scored (60), third in on base percentage (.416), and fifth in slugging percentage (.529). In two seasons with the Sea Dogs, Corsaletti has complied 136 career walks, ranking first in franchise history. He ranks third in franchise history in career runs scored (153) behind Kevin Millar and Brandon Moss. Corsaletti, 25 years-old, was drafted by the Red Sox in the sixth round of the 2005 First-Year Player Draft.
The 27 year-old Madera has spent time at Double-A Portland and Triple-A Pawtucket this season. He has appeared in 43 games for the Sea Dogs hitting .292 with 7 home runs and 28 RBI. Last season he led the Can-Am League in hitting with a .364 average along with 21 home runs and 75 RBI with the New Jersey Jackals. Madera had his contract purchased by the Boston Red Sox from New Jersey (Can-Am League) in early April. He was originally signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Oakland Athletics on February 6, 1998.
