A State Trooper was injured this morning when his cruiser struck a tree on Route 118 in Waterford. Trooper Jason Wing is being treated for head injuries and multiple bruises at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
Wing's cruiser was demolished when it struck a large pine tree along a curve in the road near the intersection of Route 37.

Wing, along with an Oxford County Deputy and two other troopers, were responding to Fryeburg to help the Fryeburg Police Department with a large fight at a campground.
The police department later told the officers that the situation was under control. Oxford Deputy Joshua Wyman was returning to his patrol area when he found the injured trooper walking along Route 118. Wyman than transported Wing to Stephen's Memorial Hospital in Norway. Wing later was transferred to the Lewiston hospital.
A team of troopers investigated the crash during the early morning hours and initial indications are that Wing lost control when the cruiser veered off the road and onto the gravel shoulder. Wing joined the State Police earlier this year.
