Fire damages Madison home

MADISON $ A family of four is homeless after a fire Monday blew out a window and filled their two-story home on Ingalls Street with smoke.

Aaron and Gretchen and their two children were not a home when the fire was first reported just after noontime.

"All we know is that it started in the litchen," Madison Fire Chief Roger Lightbody Sr. said at the scene. "The place was full of smoke coming out everywhere when we got here."

Trucks and crews from Madison, Skowhegan and Starks responded to the fire, which North Anson covered the Madison station.

No one was injured, but the inside of the house $ both upstairs and downstairs $ was badly damaged by smoke and water.

A garage and a Summerland vacation camper next to the house were not damaged.
