The contribution is the largest the library has received from an educational institution and brings the total raised to $2.2 million or 71 percent of the $3.1 million campaign goal.
In a statement, Colby College President William D. "Bro" Adams said "In the spirit of partnership that we share with Waterville, and recognizing the critical role of the library in education and civic life, Colby is pleased to help with the Waterville Public Library's current capital campaign."
