LITCHFIELD-- Selectmen will hold an emergency meeting today at 6:30 p.m. to handle school business.
They are scheduled to hear from Chris Trenholm, business manager for School Union 44 Litchfield, Sabattus and Wales, who will review a school consolidation statute.
Selectmen were scheduled on Tuesday to sign a notice announcing a 6:30 p.m. public hearing July 30 on school consolidation. That hearing is set for Oak Hill High School in Wales.
However, Town Manager Michael Byron said no one from the school department was there to explain it, so the discussion was reset for tonight at the Town Office.
Residents are scheduled to vote Aug. 12 on the reorganization of School Union 44 into a regional school unit. Polls at the Litchfield Sportsman's Club will be open between 1 and 8 p.m. that day.
