Portland City Manager Joseph Gray returned to work today for the first time in nearly a month, following his second cancer-related surgery in a little more than two years.
Gray, 63, had surgery in late June to remove a cancerous growth in his prostate gland. It was the second successful cancer surgery for Gray, who had about a foot of his colon removed in April of 2006.
He has been on medical leave during his recovery.
Gray is currently working part-time as he readjusts to his duties overseeing city operations. He said he plans to return to a full-time schedule either next week or in early August.
