The heavy rainfall over the past few days caused rivers and streams to rise.
While water levels were falling in most areas, minor flooding was still forecast for the Kennebec River at Skowhegan later today, the National Weather Service is reporting this morning.
A weak area of high pressure will build in and the humidity will continue to lower to more comfortable levels tonight.
Temperatures will fall to the upper 50s to lower 60s.
The sticky air will start returning on Saturday as a southwest flow becomes reestablished over New England.
Tomorrow will start partly sunny and warm, with highs reaching the upper 70s and 80s.
Afternoon thunderstorms will develop in the north and mountains.
Weak low pressure will move along the coast and bring showers and thunderstorms Saturday night and Sunday, especially over southern areas.
Another low in the mid west will bring more widespread showers in for Monday night into Tuesday.
