WINSLOW - A man walking along Benton Avenue on Thursday morning found a gun that was stolen during a burglary in Clinton, police said Friday.
Clinton officer Joe Jackson said that someone stole the Smith & Wesson, semi-automatic, .40-caliber handgun during a July 15 burglary, on Mutton Lane. Jackson said he believes a man went went around town trying to sell the weapon prior to discarding it.
Jackson said he has no description of the man.
"People say he was going trailer-to-trailer at Ames Trailer Park," Jackson said.
Jackson said that the owner of the gun $ whose name he would not reveal $ had attached a child safety lock through the magazine, thus disabling it.
