FARMINGTON - The two-day annual Strawberry Festival in downtown Farmington opens Friday.

Art in the Park has dozens of artists exhibiting their work in Meetinghouse Park on Main Street, stores are having special sales; and a chicken barbecue at 4 p.m. in the County Courthouse parking lot will be prepared by the Farmington Fire Department. There will also be a 5-K and kids one-miler road races with registration at 4:30 p.m. on Broadway. The kids race starts at 5:30 p.m. and the adults at 6 p.m.

On Saturday, events will be going on from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. along Broadway and Church Street with live music and dance, craft demonstrations, chainsaw carving, artisans, pony rides, food and strawberry shortcake. The event is presented by the Downtown Farmington Business & Professional Association and major sponsor, Frankin Savings Bank.
