The National Weather Service in Gray Friday said that it received a call from someone who reported seeing a water spout over Woods Pond in Bridgton Thursday at 1:30 p.m.

Woods Pond is located two miles southeast of downtown Bridgton.
In addition, there were a report that trees were blown down in the same area.

A funnel cloud was also sighted in Bridgton around the same time.

A water spout is a tornado that touches down over water rather than land.

The Weather Service is sending a staff person to Bridgton to find out what happened.
