Public invited to see sea turtles

By Deirdre Fleming Portland Press Herald Staff Writer July 29, 2008 12:12 PM

Come and meet the four highly endangered Kemp's Ridley sea turtles that were rehabilitated at the Marine Animal Rehabilitation Center at the University of New England in Biddeford.

The public will be allowed to meet the four turtles at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the center, before they are returned to the sea off Cape Cod.

The center is located at 11 Hills Beach Road in Biddeford, off Route 9, or Pool Road.

The highly endangered turtles are the smallest of the sea turtles, and just a few thousand breeding females are known to exist in the wild today.

For more information about the turtles, or the center, call 602-2269.
