Portland police are investigating a weekend drive-by shooting that left several bullet holes in a home on West Presumpscot Street but did not injure anyone.

Police say someone shot at an apartment at 43 West Presumpscot Street at 2:21 a.m. Saturday.

Some of the bullets pierced an exterior wall and entered an occupied room. There were a number of people in the apartment at the time, but they told police everyone was asleep when the shots were fired.

Police were unable to get a description of the vehicle, which was heard leaving the area.

Police said they do not believe the incident was a random act of violence, suggesting some connection between the shooter and the intended target.
