Auburn celebrates "National Night Out"

By Giselle Goodman August 05, 2008 09:34 AM

Festival Plaza on Main Street in Auburn tonight will be the site to celebrate "National Night Out" - a crime and drug prevention event that encourages police and community relationships.

The gathering begins at 5:30 p.m. and ends at dusk. The Auburn Police Department, which is hosting the event, will serve food and snacks. There will be police dogs for the kids to meet and dive team demonstrations. Face painting, a rock climbing wall and rescue vehicles add to the attraction. A "Take Back Our Park Flashlight Walk" from Main Street to Moulton Field rounds out the night.

This is the fifth year the Auburn Police Department has participated in the National Night Out event. It is an anti-crime, free public safety event, designed to help take a bite out of crime.
