Site for American Legion games moved

By Scott Martin smartin August 08, 2008 04:16 PM

The American Legion baseball state tournament games scheduled to be played in Augusta have been moved to University of Southern Maine in Gorham because of unplayable conditions at Augusta's Morton and McGuire fields.

According to tournament director Doug Burdin volunteers will work on McGuire on Saturday to try to get it ready for the if necessary game, which would be played Sunday.

Now on Saturday at USM, Gardiner will play Gayton Post at 10 a.m. and Bessey Motors will play Nova Seafood at 1 p.m. The winners of those games will meet at 4 p.m.

If Nova Seafood wins both of its games, it will win the tournament. If Nova loses a game, the if necessary game will be played at a to be determined time on Sunday.
