AUGUSTA -- Police responded on Saturday to a disturbance at the Family Dollar Store on Western Avenue and arrested Jarod Bryan, 20, of Vassalboro.
Police charged Bryan with robbery and theft.
Augusta Police Sgt. Michael Small said Bryan stole car keys belonging to Mary Dill, 70, of Gardiner while she was in the store shopping.
Small said Dill chased Bryan when he ran out of the store. She attempted to keep him from closing the car door after he got into her vehicle. In the process, she sustained a cut her hand, Small said.
Witnesses intervened on her behalf and detained Bryan until police arrived. Small said Dill did not need to be taken to the hospital for her injury.

10:50 a.m., a theft was reported at Kohls on Stephen King Drive. Police arrested Frank Meranda, 38, of Augusta and charged him with theft and violation of probation. Police also issued a summons to Yvonne Bowley, 28, of Augusta and charged her with theft.
1:38 p.m., police received a report of shoplifting at Kohls on Stephen King Drive.
5:39 p.m., police received a report of shoplifting at Hannaford Brothers store on Willow Street.
7:44 p.m., a disturbance was reported on Davenport Street.
8:04 p.m., a disturbance was reported on Willow Street.
9:42 p.m., police arrested Michael McQuade, 37, of Augusta at China Town on Water Street on a warrant.
11:33 p.m., an Eastern Avenue caller reported a disturbance.
11:39 p.m., a disturbance was reported at Central Maine Property Management on Jefferson Street.
11:41 p.m., a disturbance was reported at Eastside Boat Landing Park on Howard Street.
11:47 p.m., a disturbance was reported at PJ's on Water Street.

At 12:08 a.m., a disturbance was reported at Cumberland Farms on Mount Vernon Avenue. Police arrested Michael Ahearn, 38, of Augusta on a warrant.
12:45 a.m., a disturbance was reported at Mid Maine Maintenance Inc. on Ryan Center.
12:54 a.m., a Hicks Road caller reported a disturbance.
1:14 a.m., an Oxford Street caller reported a disturbance.
1:16 a.m., a disturbance was reported at Daniel's Auto on Mount Vernon Avenue.
1:44 a.m., a disturbance was reported at the corner of South Chestnut Street and Winthrop Street.
2:01 a.m., a disturbance was reported at Central Maine Property Management on Jefferson Street.
3:09 a.m., a disturbance was reported at Margaritas Restaurant on Western Avenue.
10:13 a.m., police arrested Roxanne Diplock, 50, of Augusta for operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
10:33 a.m., a theft was reported on Jefferson Street.
1:03 p.m., police received a report of criminal mischief on the Kennebec Rail Trail.

At 1:13 a.m., police arrested Alexander Cates, 24, and charged him with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs and after his license was suspended.
10:25 a.m., police arrested April Richards, 28, of Livermore and charged her with unauthorized use of property.
