Gasoline prices down in Maine

Mainers are getting a break at the gas pump, with the average statewide price for a regular gasoline falling today to $3.82, according to AAA.

That's down 31 cents from a month ago.

Maine's price is on par with the national average of $3.81. Prices have been declining since July 17, AAA reports, when regular peaked at $4.11 a gallon.

In Maine, the current average price in Portland is $3.81 for regular. Lewiston-Auburn is at $3.83 and Bangor is at $3.78.

Diesel is averaging $4.59 a gallon in Maine, down from $4.89 a month ago.
