A 31-year-old Brewer man was killed in a weekend accident when he fell off an all-terrain vehicle and struck a steel post in Beddington.

The Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife said Ryan Webber was riding with a friend on a gravel road Saturday afternoon when their ATVs rubbed wheels.

Webber fell off his machine and struck the post, which was stuck in the ground to hold a large metal gate.

CPR efforts were unsuccessful and Webber was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials said Webber and his friend, 30-year-old Matthew Craine of Brewer, were both wearing helmets
